digibox problems

My digibox seems to have regular periods of poor reception. Usually a reboot
solves it but it is now getting less successful in remedying the situation.
Is there anything else I can try which may help it?
I don't have insurance from Sky so I want to avoid ringing them. But if I do
this as a last resort, how do they react to signing up for it then reporting
a fault straight away?
Also, how do they react to threats of downgrading due to it not working
correctly?

Thanks in advance.

You don't say what the problem is or the age or model of your box but
I suspect a dying tuner/power supply.

Ring and ask for service. If they say "that's £65" then imply that you
will have no alternative but to cancel as you are penniless.
You can also find a replacement used box for very little in a car boot
sale etc.
Test your box on a working dish and vice-versa first though.
