Activating card in UK to take to Poland

I have a decoder and card which I'm taking to use in Poland. How do I
activate the card in UK before I leave. Can I put it in a mates decoder,
will this affect his subscription? (his kit is linked to the phone line).
Should I plug my own decoder into his system or will this have no effect?

Plug your decoder/card into his coax/dish, and call up sky to 'marry' the
two of them. One they are paired, then they can be used again anywhere.

Assuming it is a FTV/FTA card, or a sky subscription over 1 year and not a
new sky subscription package card, it does not have to be plugged into the
phone line (Only for T&Cs for a new system - more chance of you using the
red button !!) .

I think thats about right.

Or just take it with you and have your UK contact activate it for the
cost of a short phone call.
