Amos 2
|
Amos-2 was launched on december 27th, anyone managed to pickup any signals from this in the UK? Give it a chance- satellites take at least 2 weeks to get into geostationary orbit, and undergo initial transponder testing. And will we be able to watch television from Israel now this has been launched. No. Amos 2 (like Amos 1) has two beams, one covering Eastern Europe (which we may have a chance of picking up on a largeish dish in the UK), and likely to carry Eastern European TV, and the other covering the Middle East, which would need Jodrell Bank sized dishes to pick up in northern Europe. Another complication would also be that the channels from the YES package are encrypted, with subs only available to subscribers within Israel, but given the footprint area this is a bit academic. Many thanks. Shaun Okeefe Give it a chance - it wont be on station for a few weeks yet! Probably towards the end of January at the earliest. The official footprints show a weakish signal into south eastern UK - but only on the European beam. (There are at least 3 beams on this bird - UK / USA / eastern mediterranean). -- Ross Lockley Galashiels www.analoguesat.co.uk www.geocities.com/digitalsatuk "Sender" and "From" addresses are spam trapped. If you top post like you did, it makes the thread difficult to follow.
