Best 120Gig hard drive
I did a bit of searching reviews etc. for the best 120Gig hard drive to bung
into my Sky+ box, but couldn't find that model currently for sale. Anyone know of a new model that is reliable (noise, heat, performance)? -- Remove the numbers when replying to me |

The Maxtor does the trick. "Game of the year 2004": buy a big Maxtor for PVR use and watch it die. Any drive that I was buying for PVR use would have to have a three year warranty. Some Maxtors do (only the SE models) and I would not consider buying one that didn't. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. That's strange, over on Digitalspy that's what everyone recommends. I've had
one since Sky+ launch and it's fine. http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/t/30514/ds.html Someone's being awkward. "Jomtien" wrote in message ... Kevin Harrison wrote: The Maxtor does the trick. "Game of the year 2004": buy a big Maxtor for PVR use and watch it die. |

how many hours will this give ? 'bout 60 hrs. A standard 40 gives about 20 hrs. Also, is it as easy as installing a hard disk for the PC, i.e. just take out and plug in? Yup. Though two caveats: 1. the whole box is done up with security torx screws so you'll need the correct driver to open it. 2. The percentage remaining numbers at the top of the screen will not be correct. It will say 27% free, or so, with a brand new empty disc. This will change as you fill up the drive but it will never be accurate. The bar scale, however, is accurate. See: V1 box - http://www.hummer.co.uk/disc-change.htm V2 box - http://www.hummer.co.uk/disc-change-v2.htm for a good walk through with pics. Regards Mark |

That web forum (and others) contains a high proportion of nonsense in the sat sections. I dare say that the same applies to the PVR sections too. I would simply want the longest warranty possible for any drive that I intended to run 24/7. One year is not enough. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these. The Maxtor SE drives still have 3 years. Samsung have 3 years on all drives. Hitachi/IBM may still have something like that too. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
