It might be "Video Hits One", but our TV Guide has it listed as "Viewer Hits
One".

Anyway, MTV, VH1 and MTV2 all seem to be part of Viacom (the same company
that owns the United Paramount Network "UPN", Columbia Broadcasting Signal
"CBS" and Nickelodeon)

MTV used to be all music. Then they started showing "Real World" and "Road
Rules" here. That's why they launched VH1. VH1 soon became a channel where
you'd find "I Love The 80's" and the sort, so they launched MTV2. MTV2 soon
began showing music specials, so they then launched VH1 Classics.

However much Viacom tries to launch a 24-hour music channel, they fail. VH1
Classics (VH2 in your area) now airs specials as well. The only channel
that comes close is VH1, when at 12:00 Mountain Time they show "Insomniac
Music Theatre" where they show NOTHING but videos and adverts (three videos,
then about 4 minutes of adverts, then three more videos, and if you're
lucky, you'll get four videos). It airs for about five hours then they have
CardioVideo, which airs for two more. During the day, you're likely to see
something like "Behind The Music" or "I Love The Eighties" instead of REAL
music videos!

I may have read somewhere that VH1 Classics in the US may also change it's
name to VH2, but I can't remember where and if I even read it. I will see
if I can recall.

Cheers

I'm surprised to see a VH2 in the UK. VH2 sounds stupid.

I thought it was Video Hits One?

VH2 sounds a bit like MTV2 was.

The problem on Sky here is not only VH1,MTV etc there's also a mutitude of
crap *phone for your video* channels carrying terrible dogs and everlasting
scrolling the number of the video and telephone number to call (premuim rate
number)
Awful channels with awful music *Scuz* being the worst

Did you not see my post? Here are the Viacom owned music channels we have
already:

MTV
MTV Hits
MTV 2
MTV Base
MTV Dance
TMF
VH1
VH1 Classic (we've had this since 1998, its NOT a new channel)
and soon to launch, VH2.

But your general point is correct regarding too much programming and not
enough music. The problem is there are too many other channels out there
just playing music videos, so the MTV bouquet have to differ somehow. Once
VH2 launches, on the main digital TV provider here we'll have 23 channels to
choose from in the Music Video category. There are many more audio only
stations on top of that!

Ian (still hoping for MTV Indie)

Ian,
I did not see your previous post as to Viacom-owned channels. In the US, we
have the following:
MTV
MTV2
VH1
VH1 Classics

That's it.

Cheers and Regards

It has moved to 445 today, with VH2 showing a countdown on 446.
