MAJOR Sky+ Bug

If you have Sky+, and the new software, you may want to check that you can
still watch things recorded before 7pm last night.

There is a "Known Bug" according to a Sky+ Technical Services manager (I
have her name), where by LOTS of people will not be able to watch ANYTHING
recorded before last night!

I've lost months of recordings; Sky's solution - just delete them!

Oh, yes, they knew about this before sending the software out - wouldn't it
have been nice of them to tell us!

Compensation? It's like someone entering your house and wiping your
computer's hard drive. In fact, it's exactly that. I don't have Sky+ so I
don't have authority.

I've seen reports of this problem in Digital Spy forums. Does it affect
V1, V2 or both sets of boxes ?

I've just checked on my Sky+ box which was updated this morning, and I
am still able to watch all my previous recordings dating from last
night, right back to 9 months ago without any problems.

Sorry to hear you are having problems though :-(

I am awaiting a call back; firstly I want a letter from them telling me that
it is a known problem, and that they issued the software knowing the
consequencies..... THEN we start talking about compensation.

Strange problem. My V1 box is having no trouble playing back eight-week
old recordings. I wonder what's causing it to happen to some but not
others?

With a TiVo this kind of problem NEVER happens.

It certainly will when TiVo pulls out of the UK!

True, if for no other reason than that a major software/functionality
upgrade for Tivo (in the UK) is NEVER gonna happen!

Nobody is more supportive of TiVo than me.I have had one from Day
One(literally) but no company will continue to support a product
infinitem without an income stream. In the end TiVo will have to stop
supporting the UK for the good of its shareholders. It's a shame but
there it is.

TiVo gets £10/month from roughly 50% of all the people in the UK (who
chose monthly subscription over lifetime).. Not exactly "no income
stream".

Not really, because if a TiVo subscriber wants to watch/record Sky
Sports for example, they still have to pay....
