All existing FTV cards to be switched off
There's a guy who reckons all FTV cards will be switched off from
October 5th. Full story : http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...7c068b4ds.html Apparently a channel 4 operator told him so. |

Me n'all, it's November 5th my mistake. The guy posted another message saying he was told the opposite when he called back anyway. |

But it does appear more imminent because people are getting the message banners again which now give the number 0870 054 1800 to order "freeview" cards from @ £23.50 each |

Calling them "freeview" would cause confusion with the digital terrestrial service of the same name. But I'd say the switch-off of the old cards definitely appears imminent now that new cards are once again available. http://www.free2view.tv/ |

Scam? |

I have a P1 ftv card and I ordereda few card via the website and within 20 mins it was switched off. I called up and they told me that all cards are disabled upon the ordering of a new card. Harold |

It doesn't look like it's a scam as people who tried to register have had their old cards immediately swithed off. Also, when I gave it the number of my old P1 FTV card (which has been replaced by Pout), it correctly identified its status as "R- Replaced". These cards cost £23.50 more than it would cost to get one via Pout, so it would be a little silly to buy from this new site while the Pout method still works. Has anyone who registered at free2view.tv actually received a new card yet? |

The free2view domain is registered to MGt PLC who handle call centre type business. Their own site has a link to a news item, http://www.mgtplc.com/html/News%20Re.../free2view.htm So, not a scam but definitely another load of panic posts about to come ;- |
