Sky Premier changes - will this affect free Sky+ deal?

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but if Sky are re-arranging the movie
channels so it just becomes one block of nine channels, does this mean
that the Movies only count as one premium channel and therefore no
longer qualify for the free Sky+ service?

Hope not...

I am betting they do.
What would be the point of renaming them and then saying something like

1-5 are
one sub, and 6-9 are another.
Or that each block showed a different type of film (as premiere v max does

at
the moment)
I would think it very confusing in their selling.

Maybe I am missing something here but if they charged you for 1 premuim
channel then wouldn't they lose revenue..........unless of course the charge
for the movies was increased to equal the current charge for the full Movie
World package.....that would be more like Sky now!

Just out of interest, is that the same Ralph Ferneyhough from Keele Uni?
Just recognise the name from when I was there, 1990-93.

You didn't think they wouldn't come up with a way of clawing back
that Sky+ sub did you?

The current monthly price is:

£18.50 for Family Pack

plus (what I call the Premium Channel Licence)

£4.50 for 1 premium channel (or £14.50 with Sky+ subscription)
or £4.50 for 2 premium channels (includes Sky+ subscription)
or £2.50 for 3 premium channels (includes Sky+ subscription)
or £1.50 for 4 premium channels (includes Sky+ subscription)

plus

£4 for each sport channel

plus

£5 for each movie channel

Using F = family, S = sport, M = movie, this gives us the following packages:

F = £18.50 (with Sky+, would cost £28.50)
FS = £27 (with Sky+ would cost £37 so cheaper to upgrade package)
FM = £28 (with Sky+ would cost £38 so cheaper to upgrade package)
FSS = £31 (includes Sky+)
FSM = £32 (includes Sky+)
FSSM = £34 (includes Sky+)
FSMM = £35 (includes Sky+)
FSSMM = £38 (includes Sky+)

In January 2004 my guess is that:

1. the Family Pack will increase by £1.50 to £20

2. the Premium Channel Licence will increase by 50p.

3. the Sky+ subscription will increase by £3 to £13.

Using F = family, S = sport, M = movie, this gives us the following packages:

F = £20 (with Sky+, would cost £33, so might as well upgrade)
FS = £29 (with Sky+ would cost £42 so cheaper to upgrade package)
FM = £30 (with Sky+ would cost £43 so cheaper to upgrade package)
FSS = £33 (includes Sky+)
FSM = £34 (includes Sky+)
FSSM = £36 (includes Sky+)
FSMM = £37 (includes Sky+)
FSSMM = £40 (includes Sky+)
