Cancelling $ky - advice please (no flames).

OK, before I start, no flames here. I appreciate that this topic has
been discussed ad nauseum, but using NTL's news service, lots of stuff
goes missing. Anyway ....

I've decided that I want to cancel my $ky subscription. I'm paying
£30.50 a month for a mirrored service with two boxes. If I understand
things correctly now, as I have series two cards, I should still
continue to receive ITV1, C4 & C5 once I cancel. I seem to recollect a
post or two about the fact that HMG was involved in trying to sort this
issue out for those people who only had FTA cards, so that these
channels could still be received. If I do loose the channels, Pout seems
to be the way to go to get new cards. Have I missed anything?

TIA

Clem

Just subscribed for a month and cancelled myself, the Customer
servive person wouldn't accept that Sky News is FTV!

It isn't. It's FTA, although for over 5 years now Sky have lied and
said it is part of their pay-TV channel packages. Get them to explain
why the picture doesn't go away when you pull the card out.

It's probably just to make their £12.50 "value" pack sound like it's of
value, when in fact all you actually get is Sky One. I know DHL is included
but that's only relevant if you like that channel. It still amuses me when
they try and sell the £18.50 pack with over 80 channels. How many good ones?
Do they include all the timeshift and FTV/FTA channels in that number? How
many can you keep track of, or is it all designed just for surfing through
(which would help explain all the on screen messages)

It probably is to make it sound that. Nevertheless, it is still a lie

Oh, and QVC is the other channel which they lie about and say is part of
the Value Pack. It's not, it's FTA.

All the literature for such packages always says "Sky News and QVC are
available without a viewing card". Seems pretty clear to me.

"All shopping trips to Tesco include free breathing air."*

(* Breathing air also available free everywhere else.)

By definition no FTA channel can be part of a pay package.

They were right. It isn't. It's FTA.

AFAIK you get Sky one, DHL, DHL+1, attheraces, Music Choice, Bloomberg
and Talk Sport.

To be fair, there are regular repeats of "Sarah Beeny's Tits" on DHL.

Yesterday, the pneumatic pair were giving advice on a man extending a bungalow
up and out and selling it for £300,000+

in the latest series on C4 to you, or is this just my failing eyesight? :)

Depends how she hides them. I've yet to watch last and this week's shows.
