Yes both boxes need to be connected to the same line and present the
same CLI.

Well that sucks. What happens if you don't?

Failing that, where do I send the extra card back to in order to
withdraw this extra subscription?

Initially you get letters from Sky!

Think about it! Unlike with single STB installs Sky *HAVE* to monitor this
very closely to check that the second subscription hasn;t been moved on to a
totally different house.

First you'll get warning letters from Sky. If you don't fix it, they'll
charge you full price for the extra subscription, instead of the reduced
£10/£15.

Letters, phone calls and then they charge you full price on the second
card.

withdraw this extra subscription?

Sky customer services, where you ordered it from.

Oh well, looks like I'll have to call Sky and get that card converted
to a full subscription one. Is that easy to do for them?

Alex.

I just got my "extra subscription" Sky card. Now the terms and
conditions say that BOTH boxes have to be connected to the phone line,
and that I have to keep the extra sub card for 12 months. Before I
venture into the 12 month thing, a few questions if I may. First, I've
never connected my original box to the phone line, because it was
bought second hand without this requirement. No probs there... does
that mean I have to connect that AND the 2nd on to the phone line
now?!

Yes.

Modelled on the US system. HOWEVER in the US 1-800 number owners get the
calling number - it CANNOT be blocked! It can for 0800 in the UK but Sky
will whinge!

It isn't - which is why I had each box connected to a different
analogue port on a BT highway line (it was just convenient for me at
the time) - but Sky contacted me and made me see sense :-)
