You can swap your box anytime, Sky won't mind, but each time you do you need to get Sky to authorise your card for the new box. This will stop it working in the old box, I believe. As for the Sony box, I gather it's not fully implemented in the firmware and thus doesn't actually work for Dolby Digital. Or do i need to get sky plus, if so can i keep my origional box or do sky take it back Sky Plus certainly works with Dolby Digital, using an optical lead. And the original box is yours to keep. Sky will try and flog you a second £10 a month sub to give you a second card that matches your existing and thus allows you to watch Sky in another room on another TV. The Sky Plus installation automatically includes a quad output LNB - two for Sky+ and two spare. Regards Mark |

Although it has an optical output you can only use it to transfer stereo sound. Your current box belongs to you, Sky will not take it back. Andy |
Is the installation offer still on sky plus ? or is £50 again now

One more thing, are you aware that only Sky Premier 1,2 and 3 and some box office films are broadcast in DD? Andy |
Yea, but i also get to record etc on sky + i suppose, was looking at the
sony box as a cheaper option |

I've just upgraded from a Sony box to Sky+ and can confirm that you will not get DD on the Sony box.. I how have DD up and running on Sky+.. The difference in sound is not a big as I expected.. The difference will only be noticeable on the Sky film channels that show DD5.1 films, of course. It should be quite noticeable there though. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
