Done a search on Google but had no luck.

Got a new TV in December 2002, and also had Sky digital installed. Kept
having problems with the tv switching on and off, sometimes a couple of
times a night and then not for a couple of days, very intermittent. 3 months
down the line the power supply packed up(Sony 100hz 28") and was sent for
repair. Engineer had problems, tv was unrepairable.

Now been using my other Tv (hitachi 22") and the same thing has been
happening, but still intermittent. And now my 2nd tv has gone off and refuses
to switch on.

Only conclusion I can think of is its only since I've had Sky installed
(Pace digibox), anyone heard of similar problems? Just phoned Sky but did'nt
want to be on hold 22 mins.

Over to you ??

Any help appreciated.

You are going to get nowhere with SKY by claiming a Pace digibox
is responsible for breaking two televisions.
Off hand I would say you have had very bad luck, faulty psu in the
Sony (They do fail, even good brands) and an unknown fault within the
Hitachi telly.

How is the replacement Sony behaving?
I would assume if the replacement was also showing the same symptoms
you at least would have a place to start looking.

Thanx Mike, returned the Sony one, they changed the power supply, which then
blew the motherboard (?) so cancelled the order. Have made do with the
Hitachi one, now heres my dilemma, buy a new TV ??? and gonna ditch Sky when
12 months is up.

Not keeping SKY even for the FTA and FTV channels then?
Ok, while scart connections can carry data and voltages to a TV for aspect
switching and in some cases standby control how about running SKY
connect just be RF for a while and see if the lack of scart connection
makes a difference.
Of course if you only have the Hitachi atm and that's not working it'll
be hard to experiment:)

How about something more likely, such as either bad luck or the power supply
in your house? Either of those is probably a million times more likely than
the bizzarre conclusion you've jumped to.

i have had the exact same problem and now its happening on a second tv
aswell.

have you by any chance lost the ability to operate the volume or mute
buttons from you sky remote after about 8 months??

I also have a pace digibox and had similar frustrating phonecalls to sky,
all they tell you to do is turn it off wait a few minutes and turn it on
again and check you have everything pluggen in correctly

very annoying
