Sky+ and the phoneline

Now that the £120 per year element of Sky+ has been removed (for my
preferred package anyway) the only thing stopping me upgrading is the phone
connection - the advert in the latest Sky mag/rag says that it has to be
connected for 12 months - does anyone know if after the 12 months I can once
again disconnect (this seems a bit odd as there doesn't seem to be any
subsidy involved). Or does a Sky+ subscription require the phoneline to be
permanently connected. Don't ask me why I don't want the line connected - I
just don't.
