Sky+ and the phoneline

Now that the £120 per year element of Sky+ has been removed (for my
preferred package anyway) the only thing stopping me upgrading is the phone
connection - the advert in the latest Sky mag/rag says that it has to be
connected for 12 months - does anyone know if after the 12 months I can once
again disconnect (this seems a bit odd as there doesn't seem to be any
subsidy involved). Or does a Sky+ subscription require the phoneline to be
permanently connected. Don't ask me why I don't want the line connected - I
just don't.

1st year only IIRC after that you can disconnect. I'm sure its in the
FAQ....

Sky + has to be connected all the time even after the first 12 months are

up

And what would happen should one disconnect it - loss of functionality or
just breach of rules?

The Sky+ T&Cs aren't clear (surprise!) but they do require a phone
connection for one year at least.

However, this requirement is purely contractual and is not policed.
Nor does it have any effect on functionality (apart from interactive
services of course).

Thanks - thats what I assumed.... its a bit odd though as there doesn't seem
to be any good reason for this - having had a digibox since the start and
having never used the interactive services I'm not likely to start now.
Indeed, in theory as there should always be something recorded for me to
watch then I'm going to be even less likely to be at a loose end and stumble
across the interactive stuff that needs the phone line. If I go ahead I'll
simply run a temporary cable to the box and disconnect after a year, like I
did box I have now.
