I think it's OK, some weeks are stronger than others. I thought the
training excersise ep was brilliant and this week's BBC ep was pretty
good too, but I thought the first couple of eps were a bit shaky.

But you have to admit that the way they converted the last series into
this was a doozy. And I still cringe at the thought of deep fat friers.

I find that Spooks crushes 24. An interesting variety of characters; a
few you like, a few you don't. Great escapism. Mulches equivalent US
progs into trembling pulp. Look ma characters! Why don't we gotten those
in the land of freedom (of the right groups) and opportunity for oil,
er, all? 24 deux is the embarrassment. Loved 24 numero uno.

The definitive method of split screening being done in "The Boston
Strangler" on BBC1 at the moment.

Well it *IS* one of the *VERY* few BBC shows to be sold to the USA (renamed
MI5 there) so even the americans don't agree with you. I don't either! - it
is one of the few BBC shows I watch.

I like Spooks, but this second series did not rise to the level of the
first one. Still it was good enough to make me tune in every week.

And why is everyone comparing Spooks to 24? They both use split
screen, but doesn't the comparison stop there?
Did not really like 24, I gave up on the first series before it
reached lunch time.

Never seen it, though I am tempted by the DVD Boxset. I love
Alias and also like 24, so I was hoping this maybe something
to watch over the next few weeks.

It's not full of silly low budget effects is it? If there's
one thing I can't stand it's UK shows trying to 'do
hollywood'.

That explains quite a few things, especially the American love-interest.
One of the fun things about Spooks is the between-the-lines jibes that
are made. Not quite Alice in Wonderland, but it can definitely be viewed
on more than the superficial level, even if that is the one that the US
bought ;-)
