Stupid DOG: BBC ONE North Yorkshire and East Lincolnshire

No wonder the BBC made us go Widescreen:

"BBC ONE North Yorkshire and East Lincolnshire" on my Sony, this DOG fills
nearly all the 4x3 safe area.

I wonder why the BBC have deployed this DOG equipment?

The BBC say that the DOGs will go after the testing is over (when
channels appear in EPG) on the BBC website

But can anyone explain why an unused DOG needs to be *tested* for a whole day
or two, as opposed to for a few minutes in the middle of the night?

Perhaps it's not the DOG that's being tested?

Then what is? They can show the channel without the DOG.

Perhaps they are testing that the regional channels appear on the correct
number..? With or without any card in the Digibox. Its hard to identify
the
channels if there is no DOG. I guess you could watch BBC1 London until
the DOG disappear - same programs almost all the time.

They're probably testing the postcoding system - and need to be able to
tell the channels apart!

They go live in the EPG tomorrow (Tuesday) I believe.

Even the BBC should realise that the Sky box tells you what channel you're

*SIGH* They're probably trying to test that the feed they're pumping in is
getting the right label and ending up in the right place!

We don't even know if they'll have regional labels when they're at
position 101 yet.
