arcam / mission advice wanted
Morning all,
Probably a numpty question, but.. Is there any reason why I *shouldn't* use an Arcam receiver to connect to my Mission fs2av's? Reason I ask, is because the fs2av connects to the amp via an umbilical cord, and it then distributes the seperate channels. Would that be fine with the Arcam? The current sherwood amp just doesn't cut the mustard, so I figure it's about time I buy some (decent) kit. Planning on changing the Limit 9900SE for an Arcam DV88+, or DV89, too :-) Any thoughts / comments? And yeah, I should probably change the speakers, too, but I haven't found anything with a WAF as high as the fs2's ;-) Also, if anyone's selling an AVR and/or a DV88+/89 at a good price, feel free to let me know :-) although the DV88+ would have to be cheap, to beat Creative Audio's £499 brand new. Cheers, Kez |

We have an FS2AV running with an Sony 930 amp in our bedroom and it works fine. Would that be fine with the Arcam? I would expect so. Seems a bit OTT...would you notice the sound quality difference between a budget AV amp and the Arcam on the FS2's? The current sherwood amp just doesn't cut the mustard, so I figure it's about time I buy some (decent) kit. Could be the speakers? Why not try a pair of Monitor Audio Radius 90? These are about the same as Kef Eggs, available in various real wood veneer. Hardly ugly or big speakers. Planning on changing the Limit 9900SE for an Arcam DV88+, or DV89, too :-) Arcam DVD players are overpriced IMO. You can buy better for less, and buggy. I've seen the Arcam DVD players going on a CRT projector, and cannot see any picture quality improvement over a £300 player. If you're using the Arcam AV amp's own DAC, then the high-quality/good sounding Arcam DV players are just sitting there doing nowt (unless you're going down DVD-Audio) Any thoughts / comments?
