Sony TV - problem with default switch-on
 

Some elderly friends have recently bought a Sony KV32FX68 and I volunteered
to set it up for them. The problem is that each time I switch on, either
from stand-by or the on-off on the front, it defaults to AV3. This happens
even if I use a numbered button on the remote to switch on.

I've checked the menu settings, which seem OK, although the manual doesn't
help much. Any advice would be most welcome.

is there something connected to av3?
if so it might be sending a voltage signal forcing the tv to switch

I'm pretty sure there is, yes - they have a VCR, Sky box and a DVD! What do
you reckon I should do?

don't have the item in question turned on - leave it in standby.
maybe they never switch their items into standby.

No, I did check that - all the other kit was off.

Unplug everything from AV3. If it still switches on AV3 (it may remember
what program it last was) then the TV has a fault. If not then one of the
boxes is holding on.
