You get what you pay for. Don't spend £2k without seeing it beside a Panasonic or Pioneer first. If you don't need speakers or tuner, take a look at the Panasonic v6. The extra £500 will be well spent. Terry |
Cheers for the reply, where did you pick that Panny up from and how much more is the 42"? What sort of extended cover did they offer on it? Will I see it before xmas is the biggie.... You can get a 42" Panasonic for the same money from a number of suppliers (check out www.avforums.com). I ordered mine from nexnix at 3:30 and it arrived at 10 the next morning. Sween |

please? http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/produc...-PM4230&clear= OK, I know its bad form to reply to your own post, but I have started to look into this a bit more and have a few more links. 18 Mb PDF File: http://tinyurl.com/zcsf Other Specs: http://tinyurl.com/zcr9 The spec looks OK, it does everything I want and the best price I have found is £1821 + £60 next day delivery at just projectors, or £1891 + £99 delivery with a free European flight at empire. Either way, it is about a grand less than the equivalent Panasonic model I was intent on getting. The only things that puts me off is that the company is a subsidiary of Orion (which says a bit about the ASDA of it all) and I have not found one online review. If I am ordering, it has to be Wednesday... Bob |

Ok, I have talked the missus round to getting a Plasma this weekend, so I as long as the bank say "Yes Mr. Internet, we want you take consolidate your existing lending at a lower interest rate" then I am on... For slightly more you could have a PW 6 with 3m scart lead, wall mount, switcher box and scart plug in for plasma. As has already been said the 5 had problems and I would steer clear. you could dump the switcher box and go for component in via your dvd wit, progressive scan. There are others the pio 433 and hitachi that are good but imho not as good as the panny, but if you intend to spend this sort of monies you should invest in the time to see them all. |

Then it probably is. If you want to risk it, go ahead, but don't come back and complain when it's a piece of s***. I've had my series 4 Panny for a year or so now and the only thing I'd swap it for is another Panny. Pioneer? Two words: black levels. You been shown a 6 series Panny for some £1K less than I paid for my 5 series a year ago - go get it! Nexnix are a good company and helpful - they are based in Sussex I think, and have a showroom full of competition plasmas. It is there that you'll see that your cheapskate question is embarrassing! Having said that mines got the integrated tuner & speakers etc. The 06 series has better contrast, but not massively. The one I have has great connectivity & looks superb too. Nige |
