Help with connecting TV, Vid, Sat and DVD

Forgive my lack of knowledge with TV's and the like but I am having problems
connecting the following. Can somebody point me in the right direction
please. ( I'm sure this is pretty basic stuff )

I have a 32" Sony Trinitron ( three scarts plus the usual )
A NTL digi box
A JVC Video recorder
and a JVC DVD player.

My problem is that when I turn the TV on, it goes to one channel and then
after about four seconds it turns over to another. It seems like something
is over riding. I have the NTL tuned into channel six on the TV but when I
turn the video on I lose this completely. I also can't tape from NTL, I seem
to be able to get the channel on the video but when I rewind and watch what
I thought I had taped, blank ?.

I am using scarts to connect everything together in the following way.

TV, scart one straight between the DVD and the TV ( scart one )
Scart two on the TV goes to av2 on the video

AV1 on the back of the video goes to the VCR scart on the back of the NTL
box.

TV scart on the back of the NTL box goes to scart 3 on the back of the TV.

Normal TV Ariel goes into the IN on the video, out then goes to the TV.

I am not using any other leads.

Help !

Okay here goes (assuming all SCART to SCART connections):

JVC DVD = TV SCART 1 (Ensure RGB is selected for best possible pic on
both DVD player and TV)
NTL BOX = JVC VIDEO SCART 1
JVC VIDEO SCART 2 = TV SCART 2

To record NTL simply select SCART or AV1 input on the VIDEO. On the
Sony TV, program channel 5 to be the SCART 1 RGB input and channel 6
to be SCART 2 composite video.

To watch DVD press channel 5 on TV.
To watch Video press channel 6 on TV.
To watch NTL, ensure video is set to AV1 input, then press channel 6
on TV.

Hope that works, even leaves a spare SCART socket for an XBOX!

Ray.
