Tivo Hard Drive To PC
Has anyone ever heard of moving a tivo hard drive to the pc? I need
extra storage on my Pc and I have an extra 120 GB tivo drive. It is the Maxtor Diamondmax model and I have only got it to show 10 mb of storage on my pc so far. Any help would be most appreciated! |

I moved my old original Tivo drive to a PC and had to use gunlock to unlock it. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm |

Since then I've modified it to make it safer to run on unlocked TiVo drives. Dave Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had a 120 GB Maxtor (6Y120P0) that suddenly decided it was a 10 MB disk (Max LBA: 20000) after having been run in a TiVo. Using "diskutil /PermUnlock 2" did the trick. It appears that the factory default for these drives is the same as TempUnlock, in that the lock will be applied after once being used in a TiVo. -Joe |

What OS? diskpart.exe on WindowsXP, downloadable for Win2000, will clear the disk signature and allow you to use the drive. -- --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley (Lake County) CA USA 38.8-122.5 |
