30 second advance to 2 minute advance?

Can the 30 second advance be changed so that it will advance 120 seconds (2
minutes) instead? It is a nuisance to click several times to get to the end
of an ad.

Maybe on a hacked unit - otherwise, no.

If you are using a remote that has macros you can program it to do 4 30
second advances. I use a Harmony remote which can be tricked into doing a
macro and have both a 120 second advance and 28 second rewind (4 7 second
replays). Works great.

The advance button (aka 'skip-to-tick', looks like '-|').

After you enter the backdoor code - select play select 3 0 select.

I have an old Philips and a new model series2 and don't need any backdoor
code for the 30 second skip.

Any unit that hasn't been hacked would require the code to enable 30
second skip. It has never been enabled by default on any TiVo.

Think you guys are mixing terminology. The 30 second skip is enabled by
a code but not the "backdoor" code--a code that enabled more powerful
system commands. The Select-Play-Select codes have never required the
"backdoor" code. Which is just as well since it hasn't been available
since 3.2 and later.

Direct from tivocommunity.com, from the "sticky" faq thread titled
"New Almost Complete TiVo Codes List":
---Quote---
2. Select-Play-Select Codes
These codes take the format of "Select Play Select Something Select".
These do not require backdoors to be enabled for them to work. The best
way to do this type of code is to start playing a recorded program and
do them while the recorded program is playing. They can be done from
LiveTV as well, but people generally have a hard time getting them to
work when trying to do that.
....
S-P-S-3-0-S (1.3, also 2.5, not 2.0 or 2.01) - Toggles 30 second skip
mode. This turns the Skip to End button into a 30 second skip button.
This was removed in 2.0x, but added back in 2.5.

Who said it was enabled by default? You have to enable it, but there is no
backdoor code necessary for the 30 second skip. It's just
select-play-select-3-0-select while playing a previously recorded program or
else you just end up changing the channel to 30.
