Multi-Room Vieiwing Not Working

I've been having trouble with multi-room viewing. Before I go and replace
my wireless network with a wired network, just want to check that this isn't
some issue with TiVo.

A few days ago, the MRV stopped working completely, and I called tech
support at TiVo. They said they had goofed up something with their servers,
and that is why it wasn't working. Maybe they are still having trouble.

A show will start to transfer, and then it will just stop, and I lose access
to the other TiVo until I disconnect and reconnect the wireless USB dongle.

Mine is still working, I transfered a show last night successfully. Did it
ever work for you? or did it just stop working. I tried the basic things
before I purchase a new network. Try resetting everything i.e. Tivos, network,
computer. Do the other features work such as photos, music etc? Make sure it
is enabled for multiroom viewing.

Good Luck

Rick

I would suspect a network problem. It is rare that a software problem

would
be fixed, even of only for a short time, by unplugging and replugging the
network.

Makes sense. I did fix one network problem last night (bad Linksys BEFSR41
router) and was hoping that would fix the MRV issue, but it happened again.
It seems to occur when I am watching, on the wired TiVo, a show that is
being transferred from the wireless TiVo. If I fast forward to the current
end point of the transfer, it freezes the transfer, and I have to reset the
dongle on the wireless TiVo.

Potentially the transfer has already failed, and I am just FF-ing to the
point of failure. Need to play with this some more.

At least it seems like some issue on my side, so I have control over it.
Maybe the D-Link wireless dongle is not very reliable. It gets very hot
when used which can't be good for it. I could get the Linksys replacement
from Best Buy and then return it if the problem continues. Sounds like a
plan.
