The network identifier for at least one other channel (Spike TV, I think) is different, and the new one makes reference to DTV. I had to re-do a Season Pass or two during the changeover. I would guess that DirecTV is carrying these channels' programming in its original form for only part of the 24-hour transmission day, and is substituting other shows (paid infomercials, most likely) during the off hours. This would make it impossible for any program-guide listing service to have a single listing for FX or Spike or etc. which would apply to every network carrying the channel - two or more sets of listings would be required. The simplest way for Tribune and other companies to deal with this situation would probably be to "pretend" that FX is, in effect, two different channels, which carry the same programs most of the time and have the same logos and user-visible naming structure. That's just a guess/inference on my part, but it seems to fit what facts I know. -- Dave Platt AE6EO Hosting the Jade Warrior home page: http://www.radagast.org/jade-warrior I do _not_ wish to receive unsolicited commercial email, and I will boycott any company which has the gall to send me such ads! |
I re-enabled it and set up a new Season Pass on the new call
letters, but I got no message that the lineup had changed, so no warning to do anything about this. Fortunately there's another showing Friday, but what if somebody decides to I was also concerned so I set up a manual recording of the channel. Of course, the show ran long and I lost the last minute of the season. Oh well . . . |
My Windows Media Center PC, went over 5 mins. I thought that was really
cool since it never does that unless a show goes longer than its suppost to. May be something u guys should get. TiVo is **** from what everyone says. "Kenneth Porter" wrote in message ... Neither my TiVo Series 2 nor my DirecTiVo recorded the finale last night. After some investigation I found that the channel name had changed from "FX" to "DTVFX" and channel 248 got deselected as a "channel I get" on the Series 2. I re-enabled it and set up a new Season Pass on the new call letters, but I got no message that the lineup had changed, so no warning to do anything about this. Fortunately there's another showing Friday, but what if somebody decides to reverse the change Friday and screw up my recording again? (I'm in the San Francisco market with local channels over the satellite, and the Series 2 gets its programming over the Internet should those make any difference.) |

Maybe the clock is running slow on your Windows Media Center PC. That can happen when the processor is too busy. "Everyone" doesn't include those who use TiVo DVRs. The number of TiVo users is increasing daily. |
