So, TiVo is dying, right?

Curious, why do people hate DVRs? and TiVo in particular? I have two and
wouldn't trade them for quite a bit...

My only guess is that they have a lot invested in VCRs and are worried that
they won't be able to get tapes any more...

If you experience Tivo, it is very difficult to return to conventional
tv watching and vcr recording. I would guess those who knock it have
never tried it or don't understand it.

PEOPLE don't hate DVR's, ADVERTISERS and the NETWORKS THAT DEPEND ON
ADVERTISING hate DVR's.

Boy, you are making me feel really old now.

Way back in the beginning of the "real " personal computer era, I had a
Timex-Sinclair computer. It cost me a $100.00 bill, which was high dollars
for a struggling guy back then. Membrane keyboard; and no moving parts,
other than the plug-ins for a thermal printer and extra RAM and the storage
"drive". It came with a whopping big 8K of RAM, and its storage device was
my CASSETTE TAPE PLAYER.

I had to write my own programs, but then I could record little bits and
bytes onto the tape, then play the tape back and put the data back into the
machine. Wow...that was a really good thing ( way back then). I was VERRRRY
glad to find out about and buy an Apple computer with a hard drive.

TIVO / VCR seems like a parallel situation to me.

It really is exactly the same thing. And the main reason it took so long for
video was that HDD's were too expensive. With 160g drives going for $99 now, I
think time has come for it to really take off, like the PC did.
