subscription price for second unit?

Folks,
Sorry if this is a dumb question....
I am paying $12.95/ month for my Tivo subscription.
and then I buy a second unit for my home (in my name w/same phone number),
do I have to pay an additional 12.95/month?

Thanks for your help.

Subscriptions are per machine unless you only have DirecTV-TiVo
combo boxes. Those are per DirecTV account and can only record
DirecTV. Your only option for a second Series 2 recorder is to pay
for another subscription, and you can go monthly as you have been
or product lifetime for $300 per machine. You can choose monthly
on one and product-lifetime on another if you want to.

Many of us wish they'd give a discount, but none is available. Sorry.

However with DirecTv Tivo, its $4.99 for the first Tivo and 2 through 8
are free, although 2 through 8 would pay a $4.99 "miroring" fee for
programing to DirecTv.

Yes - but I'd really recommend paying lifetime if you can afford it.

1. In two years time you'll pay the same as lifetime - if the monthly
price stays the same and doesn't increase again. If you have it
longer than 2 years then you're paying more total with the monthly
option.

2. If you pay monthly you're not getting any equity. If you buy
lifetime when you resell the unit to upgrade, etc, then you can
sell it for a higher price because of the lifetime subscription.
And if the lifetime fee ever increases your resale value goes up
with it.
