Tivo Cachecard: Is it worth it?
Can anyone tell me some successful installs on the Tivo Cachecard now
offered at http://www.9thtee.com/tivocachecard.htm? I am running the 32mb (upgraded from 16) and would like to know if the cachecard is worth the purchase. In reading the forums on www.tivocommunity.com, it sounds like if the install is not successful, then the tivo image may have to be restored. I notice many posts where the install was not successful and users have had to restore a their tivo drives. I do not want to lose all my recordings and have to redo my Tivo again. I am also running two 120gig drives and would like to save the recordings. Thanks in advance for your replys, Todd |

The CacheCard should be considered a "beta" product right now, and this is made clear in the various descriptions of it. Anytime you modify the disk, you run the risk of doing something that requires restoration from a backup. If you are nervous about this, then I would suggest holding off on the CacheCard for now. I am expecting my delivery of a CacheCard on Monday, but I will first try it out on my secondary DTiVo until the kinks are worked out. Steve |
