Mysterious channels appear in the lineup by Ray K
I have a Samsung connected to a rooftop antenna, pointed toward NYC, which is about 40 miles north of my central New Jersey home. Normally, if I press the Channel + button, the TV goes from one active channel to the next higher one. For example, after channel 7.3 should become 9.1. But now...

Sound on hdtv with dish by William Hollenbeck
I have an hdtv with dish. I have no trouble with sound except when they show a movie and I have trouble understanding the dialog. It is a 32" Samsung. I wonder if a cheap soundbar would help. Thanks in advance for any info.

TVs should also have the remote sensor on top of the screen instead of at the bottom. by Metspitzer
I just got an new TV. It sets on top of my dresser in the bedroom. The TV has to be setting on the very front edge of the dresser, or the lip of the dresser blocks changing channels from the bed. I can't think of any situation where a sensor on the top of the TV instead of the bottom would be...

DVD Recorders by Robert Peirce[_2_]
I have an old LiteON recorder which has given me great service but it has a problem. It records everything in 4:3 and then expands it in playback. Since I record to play on other players that don't know how to do this, I have to use a R/W disc, transfer it to my computer, edit it and write it...

One more minor annoyance by Bill Gill
This week Cox made some kind of a change that is at least mildly annoying. For years we have had a lot of channels that were duplicated in SD and HD. That is for example we had a PBS channel and a PBS HD channel. So I set my cable box to skip the PBS channel and just catch the HD channel when I...

HD Over WiFi: Inherant Limitations? by (PeteCresswell)
Assuming WiFi G, 720 or 1080. Is there some inherent limitation bandwidth-wise for smooth playback? It *seems* like my little Android device was playing this stuff smoothly until a few days ago, and not it stutters intermittently when the source is 720 or 1080. "Seems" because I never kept track...
