Recording 3D movies? by
Patty Winter
A friend asked whether I could record a 3D movie from DirecTV
for him. He apparently forgot that I have neither a 3D TV nor
DirecTV. :-) But it got me wondering whether such a recording
is possible with consumer-grade equipment.
From what I've been able to determine with a little Googling,
some...

Do OTA Antennas need to be mounted high? by
Metspitzer
I would like to try one, but I really don't want to have to put up a
mast. The location I would like to try is lower than the gutters on
the house. I would like to put it on a pole that my satellite dish
was mounted on.

Controlling a video player with a smart phone. by
Metspitzer
Before I even try, I would like to find out the answer to one question
to make it worth while.
This app is supposed to be able to control the WDTV player with an
Iphone. The feature that would make it worth trying is if you can use
the keyboard on the Iphone instead of hunting and pecking with...

U-verse by
Metspitzer
I was told by a Charter install guy that Charter will soon require a
box for every TV set. I don't watch much TV and I really do dislike
having to have two remotes for TV. I know a universal remote will
change stations, but it doesn't switch the HDMI choices so I still
have to have two remotes. ...

Digital clocks by
[email protected]
I have a digital clock, actually, alarm clock, sitting in the entertainment
cabinet that my TV sits on. It's behind a textured glass door, and I use it
because it has big red numbers and I can see it. My cable box also sits in the
cabinet and it's difficult to see the digital readout because of the...

Combining antennas using a splitter by
Bill Gill
In the OTA antenna thread I mentioned that I wanted to get
a UHF antenna to receive channel 35 from an out of town
station and hook it up through a reversed splitter to the
feed from my current antenna which receives the primary
(ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS) from the local stations. I was
told that...

OLED UHDTV anyone? by
UCLAN[_3_]
Sounds good to me.
"LG continues to make OLED statements with curved and Ultra HD OLED displays."
"The highlight promises to be what LG calls the largest curved OLED Ultra HD
set, which at 77 inches also displays Ultra HD 3D. That display and new 55-inch
and 65-inch curved OLED Ultra HD models...

Samsung smart TV problems. by

We have a Samsung smart TV recently purchased. Worked fine until a software
up date then the TV turned to sh|t.
Picture are find but the UI and internet software performance are to be kind

of the exhibited problem ...

Do new OTA antenna(s/e) improve over time? by

Like did they improve at all from last year, or are they mostly the
same? How about since analog days? This is assuming those indoor and
outdoor types.
Thank you in advance. :)

Electronics question by
[email protected]
The other day, my wife managed to run her cell phone, (a simple Jitterbug flip
phone I got her so she has a phone on her when she goes out) through the washing
machine while washing her pocketbook. She gave it to me to look at and of course
it wasn't working. I took the battery out of it and let it...

New Electronics question by

Sorry if there's a duplicate post. I originally called this "Electronics
question" and it found it's way into a two month old post I did back in
September.

Question about a phone charger by
[email protected]
Again, not HDTV but electronics.
I bought a second Jitterbug cell phone to keep in my car so I always have one.
Unlike most people who have a cell, I often forget mine when I leave the house.
Chalk that up to getting old.
The A/C adapter that came with the phone is rated at an output of 4.5...

HDTVs with RCA inputs? by
Patty Winter
I have a several-year-old 32" (or thereabouts) Sharp HDTV that
has served me well, but work has picked up recently and I may
have enough extra money soon to buy a larger TV. But...I realized
that I still have a bunch of components (Sony HDD/DVD recorder,
all-region DVD player, etc.) that do not...

Electronics question by

Not an HDTV question but I know there's a lot of knowledge here.
My desktop computer has a Creative Labs sound card with a pair of Bose Companion
2 speakers connected to it. They work fine, but when I have no sound coming out
of them, if I turn the volume control on the speaker itself all the way...
