Oh dear..... High winds...... by
[email protected]
I looked out the kitchen french door window to find that part of my 13 element aerial is on the patio....
Going outside reveals that the dipole is swinging in the wind and that the reflectors is still attached to the pole.
It looks like the dab aerials boom has broken into two at where the dipole...

BBC Scotland shock horror by
Bill Wright[_3_]
On satellite on the channel name they've forgotten to leave a space
between 'Scotland' and 'HD'! Is this the end of civilisation as we know it?

Today hum? by
Andy Burns[_12_]
Anyone else hearing a *very* quiet background hum in some segments of
the Today programme? It's audible on DAB and Sounds and throbs at about
0.3Hz e.g. starts when Tom Stoppard's mic is faded up at 08:35 during
the André Previn segment, annoying once you notice it ...

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
The introduction of new equipment and techniques into the BBC Television
Service is a continuing process, unspectacular perhaps in many
instances, but always aimed at providing
an improved service to the public. The quality both of pictures and
sound has been steadily...

My thanks to all who responded to my earlier posting regarding my

Fog and reception by
DerekF[_2_]
Does fog affect reception ? It was foggy yesterday in Sussex and
reception varied from poor to No Signal or picture is encrypted on all
channels. We have even been told in the past that waves affect it. The
block of flats we live in has a communal aerial.

I started a new thread as I wanted to warn people that the stuff in some of
these cans is not always safe.
For many years I used a small can of some stuff made by tixo and it worked
wonders. Then when Tandy closed it vanished so bought some servicol. It
claimed to be safe on common plastics.

PVR loses knowledge of one multiplex; others are fine by
NY
My mum reported an intriguing symptom: their PVR "couldn't get ITV". I
established that the tuner in the TV could receive all 8 multiplexes (8
because it's a main transmitter - Oxford), and that the PVR could receive
everything except PSB2 - a spot check on the channel list showed that the
only...

BBC Freesat EPG still borked by
PeterC
Afternoon proggy - can't set series; BBC 1 for this Friday is mostly blank;
18:30 local news (Look East (West))) can't be set to record, only watch
(South Today (Oxford)) is OK.
Any idea what these extortionist are doing. Pay for a 'licence' and can't
even get a decent service - to say nothing of...

Freeview aerial - 4G filter by
AnthonyL
Neighbour has been having tuning problems and man in a van has just
put in a new aerial high gain 4g filtered pointing East to Waltham
(same as me) instead of West to Nottingham.
About 800m to the right and above us is a very full mobile mast.
So the question is should I have a 4g filter and if...

Humax 'Region' choice by
Scott[_4_]
I retuned my Humax box and at the end of the scanning process it gave
me a choice of Region 1 - Scotland, Region 2 - Central Scotland. My
initial assumption was that it had picked up two transmitters.
Alternatively, could 'Scotland' mean BBC and 'Central Scotland' STV?
Thanks for any guidance.

Call The Madwife Reggae Radio by

The plot line of last Sunday’s Call The Madwife involved a

It was about 24 hours later that it occurred to me that in

Great British Railway Journeys - sound out-of-sync by

My recordings of this week's two episodes of Great British Railway

sound was leading picture, but it can be quite difficult to tell
sometimes, and the...
