For the past few weeks both the tv and the recorder are having a problem

classical music TV channel by
Bill Wright[_3_]
Why isn't there a BBC TV channel devoted to classical music? After all,
those us who have the maturity of taste and intelligence to appreciate
classical music are in general the ones who are the most productive, and
thus generate the most wealth, so in effect we are giving the poor
people the...

New Freeview channels? by
Max Demian
My Humax HDR-Fox T2 is badgering me to retune, "In order to continue
to receive all the channels available in your area." Is there
anything new of significance? I don't see anything at
http://www.terrestrialtv.co.uk/ and I don't want to retune
unnecessarily as I would have to reenter all my...

OT the blonde and the two blacks by
Bill Wright[_3_]
I had to laugh. BBC TV news last night, main item was the increase in
anti-terrorist police activity. So they showed the police stopping a
blonde white woman to find out if she was a terrorist and then they
interviewed three members of the public to ask what they thought about
the terrorists....

telephone masts by
Brian Gaff
There seems to be a sudden surge in these 'monopole mastes 12 m high with
associated equipment cabinets' being put up around this part of London. I'd
have thought there were quite enough of these by now and did wonder how all
of this, presumably 4g stuff might affect the tuners in many sets...

[OT] Bargain clock by
pinnerite
We were in Borehamwood a few days ago and spotted Lidl. My wife spotted some
Hydrangeas and leapt in. I followed remembering that they often have some
amazing bargains of things I never need.
I spotted some small boxes in in bin and picked one up. Radio=Controlled
Alarm clock it said in English...

re-tuning the Humax by
Bill Wright[_3_]
The Humax DTT box in the kitchen is quite new. It has software bugs. It
took me a long time to find out what to do about one of them. This was
after having downloaded new software on a dongle, which fixed most
things. The one it didn't fix was that if the machine was recording it
wouldn't...

ITV and ITV+1 local news by
Jeff Layman[_2_]
Local news here on ITV (Channel 3) from Rowridge is Meridian South.
However, on ITV+1 (Channel 33) it is Meridian South-east.
Anyone know what the reason is for this, and do other areas have
different regional news programmes on ITV and ITV+1?

Samsung UE49KU6670 Smart 4k Ultra HD HDR TV, and External Speakers. by
Mick IOW
Hi all, I have just upgraded my TV to a Samsung UE49KU6670 Smart 4k
Ultra HD HDR 49inch one.
When external speakers are connected by the optical Audio out socket,
should that mean the built in speakers are muted and speaker volume
controlled by the TV remote?
Hoping someone can advise,

Who comes up with the part numbers for things? by
Brian Gaff
Is it just meant to be so complicated nobody can remember which model they
actually wanted and what the differences are?
I think I'll start a campaign for things to be named like cars and they are
of manufacture. so this one in the thread above could, for example be called
the Nigel 2016 TV,...

Humax Freesat Foxsat box by
Bill Wright[_3_]
Quite an old box this; I don't know how old. It's used intensively for a
few days then not used probably for weeks. It developed a fault as
follows: It took ten minutes or more to load the programme guide. If any
button was pressed during this time the box would freeze completely.
Sometimes the...

Problem after Humax Foxsat HD OTA S/W upgrade. by
John Aldred
Tonight I did the Freesat OTA software upgrade for the Humax Foxsat HD box.
I am now getting sporadic picture breakup on all main channels. The BBC HD
channel is unwatchable.
I've tried the Humax box on another dish and TV with the same result.
I have an old Sky digibox which is working OK with...

Glyphosate: message from Chemigrow by

A few weeks ago I became alarmed that glycophosphate was being accused of
damage to babies etc.
Remembering that the grass between the city of Perth and the Swan river had
narry a weed anywhere I wrote to my cousin in Perth recommending that she
check what the authorities there use.
Suddenly...
