Sony VTX-D800U review by Agamemnon
Bought this on Friday from my local Sony centre in Northampton after they discounted the price to for £110 when I told them I could get it for that on the internet, so that save me any haste if it breaks down. Been using it for 5 days now. Plugged it into the wideband aerial on my roof. It tuned...

gen advise on installation by nigel.bywater
Hi I have recently started working for a Yorkshire based TV/Video/DVD/Radio repair company. I do not install things by myself, but I may progress to that. If anyone can offer general advise or where to get it, would help me very much. We install CTV,VCR,DVD,Hi-Fi and Home Theatre. Many thanks..Nigel

Digital TV plug-and-play standard developed by Neil Deadman
A bunch of cable operators and consumer electronics companies have developed a "plug-and-play" standard for connecting digital televisions directly to digital cable without needing a separate set-top box. All that's needed is FCC approval. It means that in a few years we could start seeing...

"Freeview Plus" by DAB sounds worse than FM
Sky are planning a rival to Freeview: http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/story/0,7493,1029122,00.html It sounds like they're going charge people subscriptions, but that would obviously be a mistake because the obvious point that makes Freeview successful is that there is no subscription. If...

Thomson 2.3 Update by Robert Tidey
I can't comment on how this compares with 2.2 as I've upgraded direct from 2.1. 2.2 fixed MHEG problems and certainly the 2.3 version seems to be OK on this as well. I have also noted that at long last they have fixed the timer problem so that weekly repeats now work.
