I need aerodynamic wires by
Brian Gaff
Last week when it was very windy I heard a number of tones coming through
the house and also in the air outside. It turned out to be cables and an
aerial wire I use for short wave reception, its not even taught, but put a
finger on it and you can feel the vibration. I remember on Wichita...

OT a bit. Documentaries by
Bill Wright[_3_]
I've just watched a Discovery documentary (on Quest HD Freeview 114). It
was about the Costa Concordia. It told the story clearly, with good
explanatory graphics and talking heads. No gimmicky camera work such as
out of focus shots, deliberate over exposure, too much or too little
colour etc....

How do you turn on audio description on I Player by
Brian Gaff
A simple thing. This used to be a simple case of using b for button and
running down the page till you heard, watch with audio description. but the
recent changes seem to have stopped this. I have tried links, buttons and
all sorts of the other things, and if you hit watch it tarts playing it...

Strange reception issues on Ch55 and 56 from Rowridge by

HD signal strenght from CP by
Andy Burns[_12_]
Robin wrote:
I have a Blake log periodic (DML26WB) on a low pole 9 miles from CP and,
while signal strength from Chs55-56 is lower than others, the quality as
indicated by TV and PC is still 100%.Â* Suggests to me an issue in the
path from the aerial rather than in the aerial itself.

Jitter watching recorded Channel 5 programmes by
[email protected]
Just a quick question for you all, please, before I go into the gory detail.
I recorded the Paddington Station programme. All the adverts and trailers have "jitter" (maybe one double stutter per second) but all of the programme sections themselves are perfectly smooth.
I'm sure there must be an...

Replaced old YouView box with current model. by
David Wade[_3_]
Folks,
Some of you may remember that almost 2 years ago I asked about the
slowness of my old HUMAX YouView+ box. Well I "bit the bullet" and
replaced it with one of the newer DTR2110 models. Its performance is
really is a total eye opener. Virtually instant response to menus. The
remote even...

Scart buzz by
Brian Gaff
I can now confirm that the scart to phono adaptor or its connection to set
top boxes is the source of the vision on the sound buzz. Taking out the
adaptor and wiring the audio to the headphone socket on the back and its
gorn.

Programme cut short by
Davey
I sat down this morning to watch my recording of Ch. 5's WRC Welsh
Rally, and just before the end, it was uncertain who was about to win
it. Then the recording stopped, according to the signal sent out by Ch.
5. I happened to have it on a second recorder, and it was the same. It
was as though...

Why do people buy 2nd hand Sky boxes? by
Lucky13[_2_]
I've had a Sky+ HD box passed on to me and I was wondering why people
buy them on eBay?
If you want the + bit you need to subscribe.
If you want the HD bit you need to subscribe.
If you want Freesat then you need a Freesat box.
If you want free sat from Sky then you need to enjoy scrolling...

Buzzing on a digital box. by
Brian Gaff
No not buzzing as in audio hum like earth loop or open circuit earth, but
buzzing as in old fashioned vision buzz as we used to get on some cheap 625
sets back in the day. How can this occur in this digital age?

NO I think its more likely that it is rather in bad taste. After all a loved

whatever happened to a.s.t.c and a.s.t.e? by
Stephen[_10_]
I've been personally involved with "proper" (i.e. not just
sky/freeview) satellite for well over 20 years now recieving from a wide
portion of the clarke belt.
I was an avid reader of and contributor to a.s.t.c and a.s.t.e. (fellow
satellite tv enthusiasts will know what I am talking about!)

Dumb question: aerial connections to TV by
Another John
Sorry for interrupting this august body with a question so simple but ...
Our TV (Sony Bravia) gets its aerial feed via the PVR (Humax Fox T2).
Owing to its continuing Green Screen problems, the Humax is frequently
powered off (via the switch on the back of the box).
The TV picture then...

out of focus by
Bill Wright[_3_]
Just watched Walking Britain's Lost Railways, the one about the
Sheffield to Manchester line. Many times during the programme the
picture was out of focus. I don't mean as an arty effect; this was
accidental. Sometimes focus was regained but often quite long shots were
blurred from start to...
