The BBC1 Morning Breakfast Stream by Phi
....has stopped switching over to the local news and presents a red screen twittering on about HD not being in my region. This has only started in th last week or so. You would thnk it would not be beyond the wit of man to switch between HD and SD.

OT? What is this object? by Jeff Layman[_2_]
Seen on the A381 from Kingsbridge to Totnes, between Chilley and Halwell.. It's the pylon-like object in the centre. You'll need to zoom in to get a closer view: Satellite view...

BBC shoots world wide distribution in its own foot by Brian Gaff
This week saw the BBC move all of its content so it uses https servers. Completely missing the fact that the Great Firewall of China now blocks it completely, as they stipulate all content sent through has to be passed and visible, ie not encrypted. Now they are advising the Chinese citizens...

iPlayer on LG TV demanding agreement to export of data outside EEA by David[_20_]
Our new (2017 model) LG TV has loads of Apps, including iPlayer. This is now demanding that we agree to conditions about exporting data outside the EEA. If you click "later" it just throws you back to the TV. Anyone know what this is all about? Cheers

Help re installing SKY+HD box by Terry Pinnell[_3_]
A friend (OAP, zero tech savvy) phoned me seeking help. He had a SKY+ box delivered, replacing his old SKY box. He says it "works fine but does not connect to the internet, so can't use catchup". I'll get over there asap, of course, but I want to phone him back with a few basic questions first....

Software update for Panasonic TV by Jeff Layman[_2_]
For the first time since we bought out TX-55CX680B TV at the end of 2016 Panasonic have updated the software. But what have they updated? I couldn't see anything on Panasonic's website or on DigitalSpy. I'll search the net later using the new software version number to see if I can find...

OT scare stories by Bill Wright[_3_]
After the ITV news full of scare stories with the black news reader frowning furiously I switched to Sky news, where there were the same scare stories but a different black news reader frowning furiously. The prognostications of doom concerned Brexit and Global Warming. I've always found the...

English Women's Hockey by Jeff Gaines
The English women's hockey team has sadly fallen by the wayside. I asked this elsewhere with no response so thought I'd try here. We have a team of very fit, athletic and attractive young women running round in mini skirts (or shorts) and jumping up and down in excited synchronisation when they...

New LG TV - PCMCIA slot? by David[_20_]
Just taken delivery off a LG 55SJ850V and opened the online manual. The apertures include one labelled as a PCMCIA slot. Now I'm used to that from previous generation laptops (before USB became the default) but hadn't seen it as a TV interface before. Previous TVs have a CAM slot (which I have...

Which Freeview channel for BBC News (SD)? by Maurice[_3_]
Although we normally use Freesat, there are occasions when we need to flip over to Freeview, e.g. to watch the rolling BBC News that is on Freesat 212 (and which has in recent months turned into something of a USA-centric chat show Mon-Thurs!). When in Cornwall earlier this month we found BBC...

Dead air by Davey
A couple of mornings ago, the Radio 4 FM signal was dead. Maybe some others were as well. It was ok on Freeview, but we don't have a TV set in the kitchen, nor in our car. While watching BBC1 a little later, there was a local news bulletin, and we thought that would be a great opportunity for the...
