OK, I know our internet connection is crap. But how come I can listen to American radio stations day after day with no glitches, yet BBC iPlayer stops and starts all the time? Bill

A day late.......... by Doctor D
May need explaining if you're an Archers ignoramus, but I haven't seen anyone post a link to this: http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/gallerypage.php?txid=2078 It would have been better if I'd looked at MB21 yesterday! Great effort!

Endeavour ending. by Derek F[_4_]
In the final scene the missing notebook was handed over with only the hands being seen. Does anyone know whose hands they were? One was gloved and the other wearing a masonic ring. Every thing at the moment including Silk seems to leave viewers wondering. Derek

BBC4 HD crystral palace by Windy Miller
Did it go missing last night, about 10:30 ish? I had low or no signal indicated on the PVR, so did a rescan and it was gone. It was the same on the TV. I forgot to check before I left this morning, maybe it's back again.

More What Hi-Fi dip****tery. by [email protected]
Sorry if this has already been brought up in the HDMI threads (just had a cursory glance), but one of the writers has basically admitted that it's all based on gut feelings: http://www.whathifi.com/blog/the-great-cable-debate-%E2%80%93-crossed-wires I suppose snake oil is like opiates in that it...

Freesat EPG and BST by PeterC
Noticed that the EPG for Sunday on is out by an hour. OK, so it's just the set time, but I wouuld have thought that nowadays the change could have been allowe for. The UK channels have picked up the recording schedule but some of the 'cheap' channels haven't. I'm leaving things as is until Sunday...

Dilemma: Which transmitter to tune to? by AnthonyL
I'm finally about to replace my corroded half aerial fitted to the live chimney stack with a Log36 fitted on an end gable wall. I've been playing with the aerial this morning - just on a pair of step ladders so 7' above ground and I get good signal strength from Nottingham with 100% quality on all...

SOT - Digital recorders by Woody[_4_]
Has anyone out there got any experience of the small handheld digital recorders, specifically those made by Tascam? I have a possible use for one such beast and have been looking at the DR-07 Mk2 which can be obtained for a reasonable price. The DR-07 is also readily available at good prices...

re C4 tonight HDMI leads by Graham C
Clearly we're an undiscerning ignorant bunch. This is what you should be looking for '..., this served up a thin and brittle sound, while motion handling, picture noise and sharpness of images also fell woefully short of what we’d expect – even at this price.' '...unfortunately the colour...

Sony picture keeps jumping back by Bill Wright[_2_]
This is on one of the several small screen Sonys I have, all modern sets. In fact it's on the newest. When watching BBC 1 HD the picture suddenly 'jumps back' a little bit, as if the camera zoom has been adjusted. It isn't a large movement, and it's very rapid. It happens every now and then,...

BBC Change for the worse by Y Dangle
I am in the habit of listening to Radio 4 via http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_fourfm (I am in Cyprus). A few weeks ago they changed the format of the player. Since then it will not remember the volume setting, every time I go there the volume is at maximum so I must set it to the...

re C4 tonight HDMI leads by lewhiggins
"Does it satisfy the specifications for HDMI, or does it not?" Depends on what it is going to be used for. For most purposes it probably doesn't matter. But if it is going to use an Ethernet connection or an Audio Return Channel the HDMI will need to be at least 1.4 compliant. If it is going to...

TOT Syncing mail by Woody[_4_]
A friend has asked me for help and I know there are people in this NG with a good understanding of computer operating systems. Google doesn't bring up anything that is vaguely useful. He has a new laptop running Windoze 8.1, and an iPad. He uses an outlook.com account (formerly hotmail) for...
