Sound on hdtv with dish by William Hollenbeck
I have an hdtv with dish. I have no trouble with sound except when they show a movie and I have trouble understanding the dialog. It is a 32" Samsung. I wonder if a cheap soundbar would help. Thanks in advance for any info.

TVs should also have the remote sensor on top of the screen instead of at the bottom. by Metspitzer
I just got an new TV. It sets on top of my dresser in the bedroom. The TV has to be setting on the very front edge of the dresser, or the lip of the dresser blocks changing channels from the bed. I can't think of any situation where a sensor on the top of the TV instead of the bottom would be...

LG display bad by Metspitzer
While looking for TVs my neighbor warned me not to get an LG. He said they had trouble with lines forming on the screen. While at Walmart I noticed that the LG they had on display had a vertical yellow line running the entire length of the...

DVD Recorders by Robert Peirce[_2_]
I have an old LiteON recorder which has given me great service but it has a problem. It records everything in 4:3 and then expands it in playback. Since I record to play on other players that don't know how to do this, I have to use a R/W disc, transfer it to my computer, edit it and write it...

The should also be smart enough to split any conflicts into A and B channels. -- Stephanie: What did you do today? Leonard Hofstadter: Well, I'm a physicist, so I just thought about stuff. Stephanie: That's it? Leonard Hofstadter: I wrote some of it down.

One more minor annoyance by Bill Gill
This week Cox made some kind of a change that is at least mildly annoying. For years we have had a lot of channels that were duplicated in SD and HD. That is for example we had a PBS channel and a PBS HD channel. So I set my cable box to skip the PBS channel and just catch the HD channel when I...

Recording HD by [email protected]
Will it ever be technically possible to record HDTV to DVD on the fly like we used to do with VHS? Or transfer HDTV programs from the cable box/Tivo to a DVD in hidef?

HD Over WiFi: Inherant Limitations? by (PeteCresswell)
Assuming WiFi G, 720 or 1080. Is there some inherent limitation bandwidth-wise for smooth playback? It *seems* like my little Android device was playing this stuff smoothly until a few days ago, and not it stutters intermittently when the source is 720 or 1080. "Seems" because I never kept track...

HDMI CEC Hack? by Jim Thompson
Just added a 55" flat screen and I'm back to HDMI CEC issues with the Cox Cable Box (Cisco Explorer 8642HDC). The Cox Box does not send a CEC handshake to turn on down stream components. Does anyone know of a hack where I could build something to send a fake CEC handshake down the HDMI cable? ...

consumer 4k ultra HD TVs unveiled at CES by J G Miller[_4_]

full size OLED TVs finally on the way from LG by J G Miller[_4_]

Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables without an adapter? by Ant
Hello. Does a pure cable (no adapter) exists from the newer Apple MacBook Pros (e.g., 13.3" MacBook Pro (A1278))' Mini DisplayPorts to HDTVs' HDMI ports exist? Or does one have to get an adapter to use with HDMI cables? If it exists, then where can be bought one from local retail stores (e.g.,...
