HDMI cable keeps falling out by
[email protected]
Me again. Different issue this time. My spare computer, which I have behind my
couch and which is connected to the TV on the other side of the room, with a 30'
HDMI cable. It works just fine. My video card has HD 1920 x 1080 so I get a
perfect picture on the TV. That being said, I have a problem...

Just brainstorming an idea by
[email protected]
And I thought I'd ask if it sounds feasible.
I have a Sony Bravia TV, which has USB ports. I currently have two flash drives
plugged in with a bunch of .mp3 files and some .avi files of home movies I had
professionally converted from 8mm film a few years back. They play fine and I'm
happy with...

Any hope for broadcast TV? by
[email protected]
I recently visited FCC website. I was shocked to find yet another auction. Regardless if voluntary or not 126 mhz or 21 channels may disappear. In the words of the FCC, the objective is to free up spectrum for data hungry smartphones. Excuse me but this is a load of CRAP. Apparently all the FCC...

TV aerials by
name
I live in a large urban area and I notice that very few homes have TV
aerials on their roofs. Many have satellite dishes. 40-50 years ago almost
all of these homes would have had TV antennas so what happened to them?
Were they removed by the homeowners because I doubt that. Either they would
have...

Computer to TV hookup by
[email protected]
Hopefully the right group to ask.
I have a spare computer, running Windows 7, which I've hooked up to my living
room TV, which is a Sony Bravia 65" 4K set. Overkill, I know, but I just wanted
to see how it looked. The video card supports 1080 video, and the picture is
fantastic. I got hooked on...

Leaving computer hooked up to TV on by
Rick Daly
I've hooked up a spare computer to my Sony Bravia large screen TV. Really just
something to do with the extra computer after I replaced it with a new one. I
wanted to see how it would look on a 65" screen, and I'm very pleased. The TV
has four HDMI inputs. I have my cable box, a Roku streaming...

Time Warner did it again by
Novel8
They just raised my monthly bill about $40...to $136. Now, I do not have any premium channels, but I do have the internet, which is about $47 of that figure. I am sick and tired of having to 'argue' about these increases that they want to shove down one's throat, and in my case every 6 months. They...

Big screen vs not as big screen by
Rick Daly
I went to the movies recently. Something I don't often do anymore. Maybe once or
twice a year. But I HAD to see Star Wars on the big screen! :-)
Anyway, the thought occurred to me that, when I'm home watching a movie on my
65" Sony 4K TV, the movies seem brighter and sharper than in a theater. Is...

Presidential debates by
[email protected]
Hi,
So far, the Presidential debated have been blocked in my area. No broadcaster has made the debates available over the air. I understand that the Presidential debates are available on pay TV. The problem I see is that the broadcasters are not acting in the interest of the community they serve....

I'm sure I am not the only one that has watched this informercial. They promise for 2 bucks ( dollars ) a month, you can watch your local and cable channels, through your internet. I know, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is...but I would like to get other takes on this merely out of...

Wiring a new apartment by
Rick Daly
Over the weekend, I'll be wiring a new apartment we're moving into. We currently
live upstairs in our home and are moving downstairs into a completely newly
renovated space. I want to run TV cables, and LAN cables into several rooms. I'm
doing so by running the cables through holes drilled in the...

More of a computer question but... by
Rick Daly
I know there's a lot of knowlegable folks here.
I'm looking for a new computer desk. My preference is one with a hutch on it.
My current, 10 year old and beat up desk has a hutch and it still allows me to
have my somewhat large tower sit comfortably on the desk under the hutch. The
tower is 19"...

Can't get 4:3 aspect ratio by
Rebel1
The Comcast cable signal goes into the set top box and then on to a
Vizio HD TV (about three years old). When watching 4:3 shows from the
'70s for example, everything is stretched horizontally so
everyone/everything looks too fat, with no black bars at the right and left.
If I repeatedly press...

Headphones question by
[email protected]
I currently have two pair of Sennheiser headphones hooked up to my Sony 4k TV.
Earlier this year, when I hooked the second pair up, the volume on both dropped.
I posted here, and based on recommendations, I bought a small amplifier which
can handle four headphones. The hookup right now is about a...

Ethernet cable question by
[email protected]
I'll soon be running an ethernet cable from my computer room router to a TV two
rooms and about 30 feet away. Cable will go through the floor, secured in the
basement and up through the floor to the TV. SInce it's a 30 foot run, I have to
buy a 50 foot cable. My question is, is it alright to coil...

OT But I need an opinion by

I know there is a lot of common sense and brainpower here, so I'd like to ask an
OT question.
I'm looking for a new computer desk. I see a lot of them I like but they all
have a cabinet built in for a CPU tower. The cabinet has a door on it. I'm
wondering if there would be any ill effects having...

TV as a monitor? by
[email protected]
I'm coming into possession of a Toshiba 32" flat screen TV. It was my
mother-in-laws, who is now in a nursing home. The set is maybe two years old.
I'm currently using a 24" Dell monitor on my computer. I've been considering a
larger monitor and now I'll be picking this Toshiba up. It has HDMI...

Video/color question by
[email protected]
I have a Sony 65" 4K TV. The other night I was watching the Washington DC
fireworks show I recorded a week ago. At one point, there was a singer, with
backup singers performing. The backup singers were all wearing very vivid red
flowing tops. I can't describe them better than that. I noticed that...
