PVR loses knowledge of one multiplex; others are fine by NY
My mum reported an intriguing symptom: their PVR "couldn't get ITV". I established that the tuner in the TV could receive all 8 multiplexes (8 because it's a main transmitter - Oxford), and that the PVR could receive everything except PSB2 - a spot check on the channel list showed that the only...

BBC Freesat EPG still borked by PeterC
Afternoon proggy - can't set series; BBC 1 for this Friday is mostly blank; 18:30 local news (Look East (West))) can't be set to record, only watch (South Today (Oxford)) is OK. Any idea what these extortionist are doing. Pay for a 'licence' and can't even get a decent service - to say nothing of...

Freeview aerial - 4G filter by AnthonyL
Neighbour has been having tuning problems and man in a van has just put in a new aerial high gain 4g filtered pointing East to Waltham (same as me) instead of West to Nottingham. About 800m to the right and above us is a very full mobile mast. So the question is should I have a 4g filter and if...

Humax 'Region' choice by Scott[_4_]
I retuned my Humax box and at the end of the scanning process it gave me a choice of Region 1 - Scotland, Region 2 - Central Scotland. My initial assumption was that it had picked up two transmitters. Alternatively, could 'Scotland' mean BBC and 'Central Scotland' STV? Thanks for any guidance.

Betty Swallocks by Chris Holmes
Well more Bore Swallocks...... I’ll preface this by saying I’ve already seen a GP and 2 nurses who have quizzed me and prodded and poked me (including a nurse who did an internal exam (allegedly with her finger, but I suspect when my back was turned she whipped out a large marrow!). But they...

BBC on Freesat EPG by Indy Jess John
On 18/02/2019 16:55, PeterC wrote: Call the Midwife no longer as a series, only record one episode at a time. Thanks for the tip. I had it set for series record and hadn't checked that it had found the next one in the series. When I did check, it hadn't reset itself to the next episode, so I...

Call The Madwife Reggae Radio by Chris Holmes
The plot line of last Sunday’s Call The Madwife involved a Black mechanic fixing Nurse Crane’s car outside the front Of the convent. Whilst listening to reggae. It was about 24 hours later that it occurred to me that in 1964 you’d be lucky to get The Beatles on the BBC during the working...

Great British Railway Journeys - sound out-of-sync by Jeff Layman[_2_]
My recordings of this week's two episodes of Great British Railway Journeys have had the sound way out of sync. Usually this can be "fixed" by stopping playback and starting it again, but not this time. I think sound was leading picture, but it can be quite difficult to tell sometimes, and the...

Freeview reception problems - two transmitters by AnthonyL
I'm on Waltham which is to the SE. Lots of pixelation and some MUXs have no signal. Went outside to see that the aerial was still in place and next door neighbour said he's had no reception since last night. He's pointing to Nottingham, about due West. How come? Nothing on...

Buffering problems by Scott[_4_]
I am having buffering problems with the BBC iPlayer (and other sites as well). This affects the PC but my iPad seems to be unaffected. I have rebooted the router and restarted the PC a few times. I have also checked the display driver. I have looked at task manager and can see no overloads...

Problems Correcting Video From DVD by Java Jive[_3_]
I have a DVD of 'The Last Emperor' - for those who haven't seen it, it's a beautifully and sensitively told story, often accompanied by some simple but very beautiful music. My problem is that the DVD won't display full-screen even on a wide-screen laptop, it's letter-boxed in the centre of...

Whistling Labgear DA by Mark Carver
I bought this for our lad's flat, and installed it just before Christmas. Does the job fine, so I switched it off and forgot all about it. Yesterday he (finally !) moved in, and switched it on. He tells me there's a penetrating high pitched whistle from it. Neither myself nor Mrs Carver can hear...

sound cutting out on radio via freeview by Marland
We tend to to listen to the local radio via the freeview set a lot nowadays as it is convenient and FM and Dab from Rowridge is a bit iffy in this bit of the Hants - Dorset border. What has been annoying me for sometime is that the sound often drops out ,it seems worse on some occasions than...
